Klopp is starting a new chapter in Germany's football coaching history, having one of the most successful managerial records in recent times.
In his spells at Mainz, Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool, Klopp has faced 1,080 games for the teams, winning 588, drawing 256 and losing 236 of them.
His record at Liverpool was 431 matches, the third highest in club history, with 705 points in the Premier League, the seventh highest ever. He has an average of 2.11 points per game, which is the third highest on record for a Premier League player.
Klopp is also Liverpool's fourth successive Premier League season unbeaten home manager, a stretch longer than any other manager. His team scored 97 points in 2018–19 – the most points a losing side has managed to score in the Premier League.
Klopp is still a legend in Germany, at Borussia Dortmund. He played a record 318 matches in all competitions, won a record 179 games and is one of only two managers (alongside Ottmar Hitzfeld) to win the Bundesliga twice with the club.
Prior to Dortmund, he claimed to be the best coach in the club's history at Mainz with a record of 106 wins from 266 matches managed and scoring 417 goals in the club in his tenure.
The Clarets manager has also played 100 Champions League games, making him one of an elite group of managers to make the milestone, with 56 victories - the eighth-highest tally in the competition's history.
Germany's first match as manager will be against the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League in September and Serbia and Greece are also in League A Group 2.
