Tiger Woods is an American professional golfer. He is tied for first in PGA Tour wins and ranks second in men’s major championships and also holds numerous golf records.

Tiger Woods was born on 30th December 1975 in Cypress, California to Earl and Kutilda Woods.
He was their only child, but has two half brothers and two half sisters from from his fathers first marriage.
Although he is famously known as Tiger, his official name is Eldrick Tont Woods. He has nicknamed ‘Tiger’ in honour of his fathers friend, South Vietnamese Colonel Vuong Dang Phong, who had also been known as Tiger.
His father, Earl, was a war veteran having served in Vietnam and was a part time amateur golfer.
By the age of two, Tiger Woods had been introduced to golf by his father.
Tiger Woods turned pro on August 20 1996 which was followed by signing endorsement deals with Nike and Titleist, the most lucrative in Golf at the time.
In April 1997 he won his first major tournament, The masters. Two months later, at 21 years of age, he ranked number one in world golf rankings, becoming the youngest person to do so. He went on the masters in 2001, 2002, 2005 and 2019.
Woods won his first US Open in 2000. He repeated the feat in 2002 and 2008.
