The Kenya’s preparation to host the 2027 AFCON has greatly enhanced when the country begun constructing a modern stadium in Nairobi with a intending to accommodate 60,000 spectators. The Kasarani Stadium is still undergoing modernization and renovations expected to be complete by December before moving to Nyayo Stadium.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Talanta Sports City at Jamhuri, along Ngong Road, was officiated by President William Ruto. This ambitious project, slated for completion in less than two years, features a bespoke design exclusively tailored for soccer, rugby, and elite concerts, marking the first new sports facility construction in the country in decades following Nyayo and Kasarani Stadiums.
The stadium meets all FIFA and CAF requirements regarding size, fan circulation, VIP and VVIP areas, and other necessary specifications. It includes seven changing rooms and boasts state-of-the-art technology for top-tier live TV broadcasts, VAR, and goal-line technology, placing it on par with leading international stadia.
With a capacity of 60,000, the stadium will rank among Kenya's largest alongside Moi International Sports Center, positioning it as one of the continent's premier sports venues.
