Newcastle United have already started negotiations to acquire goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale of Southampton, after their transfer bid on James Trafford failed.
The Magpies have had to change gears and Manchester City stepped in and nabbed Trafford, leaving Newcastle high and dry in the search of a quality shot-stopper.
The club is now in negotiation with Newcastle and Southampton, whereby Ramsdale has become a new number one target.
The ex-Arsenal and Sheffield United goalkeeper signed with Southampton last summer but might be moving again after a deal can be struck.
Newcastle would obviously be interested in improving their goalkeeping unit going into the new season, which means that Ramsdale and his experience at the top-flight could be of interest to the Magpies.
