Alexander Chuka Iwobi, also popularly known as Alex Iwobi, is a Nigeria-based professional footballer who boasts of his creative nature, strong work rate, and ability to justify the when and wherever he plays. He came to love in football since his early days at Arsenal and the love has continued to grow in his career in the premier league of Europe.
Early Life
Alex Iwobi was born on 3 May 1996 in Lagos, Nigeria to the family of Nigeria internationals, but relocated to England at the age of four. He was a kid that was raised in East London, and is the nephew of Nigerian football star Jay-Jay Okocha. He started playing football early in his life and at age eight he was recruited at the youth academy of Arsenal.
Being born in the family of football fans, Iwobi demonstrated talents at an early age, and he did not fail to perform well in the Arsenal development academy program. He can proudly represent his country, Nigeria, at international level and he is of the Igbo heritage.
Club Career
Arsenal FC (2015 - 2019)
Iwobi gained his breakthrough after he started out in the first-team of Wenger in 2015. He won quite fast a reputation of his dribbling, passing and energy with the ball. He appeared 149 times and scored 15 goals and made 25 assists in his four years at the Emirates.
Everton F.C. (2019 - 2023)
On 2 August 2019, Iwobi moved to Everton in a transfer that could reach a total of up to 34 million. His beginning at Everton was not smooth but as time went by he became a very important player under Frank Lampard, who used him as a midfielder and on the wings interchangeably.
Fulham FC (2023 - Present )
Later in the summer of 2023, Iwobi transferred to Fulham, where he continues his time in the Premier League. At Fulham, he has come to play a crucial role in the team both on defense and offense. His versatility has been one of his greatest strengths to feature as winger, attacker, and midfielder.
International Career
Iwobi has played with England at youth team level but has decided to play internationally with Nigeria. Kelechi made his debut with the Super Eagles in 2015 and he has registered more than 70 caps with over ten goals, including the deciding goal that helped to send Nigeria to the World Cup in 2018.
