He was born Jonathan Glao Tah on February 11, 1996 in Hamburg, Germany and has a multicultural background, a German mother and an Ivorian father, and he has a multicultural and globally conscious personality because of that.
Tah started in the youth ranks with Altona 93 and subsequently signed to SC Concordia Hamburg before being transferred to Hamburger SV academy in 2009. At the age of 17, he was the youngest-ever player in the club to play the Bundesliga when he started in August 2013 against Hertha BSC.

Hamburger SV and Fortuna Dusseldorf (2013 - 2015)
Tah moved into the first team of HSV, but was sent on loan to Fortuna Dusseldorf during the following season, playing a lot of games and picking up valuable experience in the 2. Bundesliga.
Bayer Leverkusen (2015 - 2025)
Tah was signed by Leverkusen in summer 2015 at about 7.5 million Euros. In his career, he played 402 competitive matches and he scored 18 goals and 13 assists across 11 seasons. The 202324 season was his breakthrough, as Leverkusen clinched the Bundesliga and DFB Cup double, lost no games in the league and also reached the Europa League final
He won several personal awards, Fritz Walter Medal (U19) in 2015 and the reoccurrence of inclusion to Bundesliga and Europa League sides as a team-of-the-season
FC Bayern Munich (2025 - Present)
On May 29, 2025, Tah made a move to Bayern Munich on a free transfer with a four-year contract to expire at the end of June 2029, and assuming the famous number 4 jersey- former Bayern defensive legends wore.

International Career
On March 26, 2016, Tah made his debut, at senior level, in a friendly match against England.
