RB Leipzig have caused the market to take the striker Benjamin Šeško very seriously, by having a fixed asking price on the striker, with interested parties hearing a price tag of minimum guaranteed fee of around 75 million euros, coupled with performance based add-ons, and a percentage of future sale to the initial the purchaser.
The Slovenian forward is 22 and this summer there has been a lot of interest on him, with Newcastle United and Manchester United keeping tabs on the situation. The clubs and Leipzig (and even Šeško himself) are not in agreement with each other however.
The 2024/25 season proved to be a breakthrough season as Šeško performed well, with his physicality, speed and ability to find the back of the net showing itself both in the Bundesliga and the Champions League. It is through his performances that he has become one of the hottest young forwards in European soccer.
RB Leipzig have no reason to sell yet because Šeško has his contract until June 2028. Bundesliga side are not interested in getting a quick cash cost provided they get their full valuation and that they gain something in case it is any transfer that the player acquires in the future.
Both Newcastle and Manchester United are on the hunt to get a young and energetic forward to spearhead their long term striking department. The fee, as well as the add-ons and resale clause structure, may be an obstacle, although at first glance, they fit the description; overall, it may be a setback unless talks develop fast.
That being the case, Leipzig has the message out: take it or leave it, there is no alternative to the transaction since they are offering guaranteed cash flow up to the tune of 75 million Euros. It is up to the Premier League giants to get on the field.
